What is the CHOOSE Act?
The Alabama CHOOSE Act is an education savings account (ESA) program designed to give eligible Alabama families more options for their child's education. Beginning with the 2025–26 school year, eligible families received state-funded education assistance to help pay for approved educational services, like tutoring, private school tuition, homeschooling support, etc., provided by approved Education Service Providers, like Gateway Center for Education. Through the CHOOSE Act, families may choose educational resources that best meet their child's individual learning needs. For the 2027-2028 school year, income will no longer be the determining factor. So, watch for the application portal to be opened to get your child on the list ASAP!
How Can the CHOOSE Act Help My Child? Eligible families may use CHOOSE Act funds for approved educational services such as: ✓ High-Dosage Tutoring ✓ Academic Intervention ✓ Reading Support ✓ Mathematics Support ✓ Educational Programs ✓ Other approved educational services
Who May Qualify? Eligibility requirements are established by the State of Alabama and may include factors such as: ✓ Alabama residency ✓ Student eligibility requirements established by the program ✓ Application approval through the Alabama CHOOSE Act program Families must apply through the official CHOOSE Act application process and meet all requirements established by the State of Alabama.
